We have just returned from a week in South Wales.
Last year we spent a week in North Wales and loved it.
This year we hired a house in Aberporth. Unfortunately, the house just didn’t work for us and the location was at least an hour from anywhere we wanted to be.
The house had a kitchen downstairs and the lounge was upstairs. For us this meant barricading ourselves in either the kitchen or the lounge, for fear of losing sight of a curious 1 year old. We just couldn’t relax.
We spent our first few days up and down the coast exploring.
Our favourite place was beautiful Tenby.
A lovely lady who owns a pet shop in Tenby told us…
“If you first see Tenby on a sunny day you will fall in love with it”
We did. A quaint selection of shops and cafes and a spectacular beach. Not commercialised at all compared to the Norfolk seaside towns we’re used to. It even rivalled our favourite Cornwall spot, St Ives.
We loved it so much that we locked up the dreary holiday house and spent 3 days on a Tenby caravan site just so we could be walking distance to the beach.
We spent entire days on the beach and we’re not usually beach people. We usually just plod along the sand a bit then go off on our way. Tenby was different. So 3 beach mats, a pop up tent and 4 buckets & spades later, we were set up for the day.
Tenby turned our holiday around and has given us the best memories. We can’t wait to go back.
